Debris has been located in the search for a missing man and his dog.
The 54-year-old man took off from Cessnock in the NSW Hunter Valley about 8.50am on Thursday, heading for Wallis Island on the Mid North Coast.
However, the man and his dog never arrived and a search operation began.

“The Westpac Rescue Helicopter searched an area of Port Stephens between Yacaaba Headland and Broughton Island and located debris that have been collected by the NSW Police Force for forensic examination,” a Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service spokesperson said.
Anyone with information about the missing duo is urged to contact police.
